Lost Memoir of Rudolph Valentino’s Manager Discovered!

Eighty years after Rudolph Valentino’s death, the personal archives of his business manager and confidant, George Ullman have been discovered. When Valentino biographer, Evelyn Zumaya recently interviewed the Ullman estate she was presented with a collection of documents and photographs and an unpublished memoir which Ullman wrote shortly before his death in 1975. This behind-the-scenes, first-hand account of life with Valentino represents the most significant discovery about the silent film icon since his death in 1926.

Ullman’s memoir offered Ms. Zumaya a rare “insider’s view” of the everyday world of Rudolph Valentino. For the first time, details of his personal life as well as the dynamics of his inner circle were revealed. The revelations in the Ullman memoir led Ms. Zumaya to the recovery of a wealth of other relevant unpublished documents, photographs and unknown artifacts relating to Valentino. The information contained within this archive of new material is the basis of her forthcoming book, Affairs Valentino.

Rich with unreported anecdotes and never-before-revealed information pertaining to Valentino’s life, business affairs, personal finances, family, colleagues, friends and lovers, sexuality and the settlement of his estate, Affairs Valentino is a dramatically different story of Valentino’s life than the one that has been repeated for decades.
